Motorcycle Movies - Dust to Glory
by EE
This past week I rented a copy of "Dust to Glory".  I had seen something about the movie in "Cycle World" or maybe the AMA magazine but it never saw much else about it.  Wow, this is a great movie for motorcycle nuts, especially for those of us that cut our teeth on dirt bikes.  I was kind of worried that it might be like one of these motorcycle stunt movies, but it wasn't.  It was a very well done documentary of the Baja 1000 done by the son of the man who directed the "On Any Sunday" movie (another one of my favorites).  What can I say?  To start with I watched the movie 3 times in the span of 4 days, not too many movies that I would do that with.   The movie did a great job capturing the essence of the race.  Lately much of racing has become so high dollar/celebrity that the real earthiness of it has been lost.  Not so with the Baja 1000.  This is real, no questionable caution flags, no groups of participants refusing to race, real men (and women) racing against each other and the course.

This movie definitly rekindled the idea some friends and I have had about riding out street bikes down Baja and probably made a lot of people think about actually riding a bike in the race.  Finances and sanity would surely keep me out of the race but riding the old ST down to Cabo, now that could be doable.

I will be purchasing this movie to go alongside my copy of "On Any Sunday".
